Meet Helena
Helena is a relational therapist passionate about helping adults navigate the complexities of trauma. Her approach is gentle and curious, utilizing a somatic approach to foster deep, lasting change in your life. As a psychologist, she believes that each client holds the capacity for resilience and growth. Helena strives to create a collaborative environment where your voice is heard and valued. Her approach is mind-body focused, integrating nervous system balance as a central aspect to therapy. She emphasizes the importance of values in guiding personal growth and uses experiential methods in therapy to foster deeper connections and insights.
Her background includes working with university students, cancer patients and their family members, newcomers to Canada, and in the nonprofit sector. Her lived experience as a second generation immigrant also shapes her understanding of the multiple identities we hold and intergenerational differences that may cause tension. She is deeply respectful of this complexity—and strives to create a space where clients feel seen not just as individuals, but as people shaped by stories, histories, and embodied experiences that matter. Clients often describe her as calm, grounded, and reflective, qualities she believes create a safe space for exploration and healing.
In her personal time, Helena enjoys cross country skiing on the many wonderful trails within and outside Edmonton, spending quality time with her husband, toddler and 2 cats, and going on thrifting excursions.

Therapeutic Approaches
Helena has extensive clinical training from leading experts in the field of Somatic Experiencing, Emotion Focused Therapy and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy.

Somatic Experiencing®
Somatic Experiencing® (SE) is a gentle, body-based approach to healing trauma. Instead of focusing only on talking about what happened, it helps you notice and make sense of what’s happening in your body—like tension, breath, or subtle sensations. Trauma can get “stuck” in the nervous system, leaving you feeling overwhelmed, shut down, or on edge. Through slow, guided awareness, SE supports your body in releasing this stored stress and restores a sense of safety and balance. Over time, this can help you feel more grounded, present, and connected to yourself.

Emotion Focused Therapy
Emotion Focused Therapy (EFT) is an approach that helps you better understand, experience, and work through your emotions in a safe and supportive space. Rather than pushing feelings away, EFT gently helps you tune into them—especially the ones that feel difficult or confusing—so they can be understood and transformed. Many of our emotional patterns come from past experiences, and sometimes they can keep us feeling stuck. Through EFT, you can begin to make sense of these patterns, access your deeper needs, and develop new ways of responding to yourself and others. Over time, this can lead to greater self-compassion, clearer communication, and a stronger sense of emotional balance and connection.

Acceptance and Commitment Therapy
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) is a practical, compassionate approach that helps you build a different relationship with difficult thoughts and feelings. ACT can be used to support you in making space for your inner experiences while gently guiding you toward the kind of life you want to live. In therapy, you might learn skills to step back from unhelpful thought patterns, connect with what matters most to you, and take meaningful action—even when things feel hard. Over time, ACT can help you feel less stuck, more present, and more able to move forward in ways that align with your values.
